12.May.2010 Krakow

Well, what shalll I say about Krakow – my last stop before going home. The weather was rainy or foggy, I was lazy from the cities before and because of the holidays from May, 1st to May, 3rd Krakow, especially the Old town, was crowded with Polish tourists.
I didn’t expect so many people and this bad weather (Budapest was already hot!), so whenever I felt to stay at home, I did. Drinking free coffee at the hostel, sitting at the computer, doing this and that and not stressing with sights anymore.
The only place I wanted and needed to visit was the Auschwitz concentration camp – as I think that it is a must for every human to see what was going on there. Yes, without any doubt, this is/was scary and sick shit. But from all the things I saw there, it was a 1h movie in the bus about the liberation of the camp in 1945, with footage from a Russian cameraman, that shocked me the most. Seriously, this movie is hard stuff. But real – like the history. May this never happen again anywhere anytime.

I spent my last two evenings with very nice people from Spain and Poland, having local beer and traditional food. And on May, 5th, after being on the road for 78 days, a bus brought me back to Germany. All 78 days had been good days – and I’ll post a little resumé in the next days…
